This is an exciting opportunity to join a Global Investment Bank with a strong presence in the APAC region with around 300 users in the Sydney office. Due to significant growth across the Australian and Asia-Pacific divisions of this tier-one Financial institution, a Senior Project management opportunity has arisen in its Sydney-based Financial Markets IT Team.

This organisation has a generous pipeline of projects that require Scoping, Costing, Budgeting, Scheduling and Resource Planning Monitoring as you help develop project proposals and coordinate business requirement documentation.  These projects are key strategic initiatives to increase the capability, resilience and capacity of the IT functions which are fundamental to the organisation. These projects include but are not limited to Trade flow Processing, Infrastructure Upgrades, Back Office Process, Product Control and Market Data (RMDS).

As a seasoned Project Manager with extensive financial markets experience encompassing Front, Middle and Back offices exposure you will be tasked to provide guidance and gusto to multiple streams of IT projects utilising a highly structured approach. Drawing on your Technology experience and knowledge across Operations, Settlement Processes, General Ledger, P&L Reporting and Risk Reporting, primarily your projects will be focused on streamlining the Back Office Settlements area though STP and Process Automation. Therefore you will interface with Finance Departments, key business heads, operational leads, vendors and Technology in order to Map, Manage and Deliver complex bodies of work across all business streams.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ownership of local IT Projects, Responsible for End to End Delivery
  • Deliver efficiencies through utilization of STP for Back Office Processes
  • Communications engaging with Senior Management and Directors of the Business
  • Cover all aspects of Project Management for regional and strategic initiatives
  • Wide exposure to a large range of business systems processes
  • Manage Costs, Budgeting, Risk and Resource Allocation
  • Project Proposal Scoping through Analysis, Testing and Implementation
  • Perform in an environment where multi-tasking, constant problem resolution and on-going risk assessment is the standard 

Skills Experience:

  • 8 Years in IT Project Management for Financial Service Organisations
  • 4 Years Experience in Investment Banking
  • Intimate understanding of Trade flow and Back Office Processes
  • Strong Knowledge of Financial Products (FX, Exotics, Securities, Derivatives, etc)
  • Project Management Qualifications (Prince, PMP, PMBOK)
  • Strong Knowledge of IT Infrastructure
  • Excellent Communication, Organisation and Presentation Skills
